Not everyone wants to get on a plane: out of fear, out of habit or because the car is needed. - Duration: 8–11 hours depending on the company and ship; almost all departures are in the evening (9pm–11pm) with arrival the following morning;
- Price: bridge passage from approx €35 each way in low season; armchair or cabin with supplement. In high season prices rise: booking in advance is worthwhile;
- Companies: several carriers operate on the route with almost daily departures; we will show you the most convenient combination for your clinical dates;
- Car following: possible, with dedicated rate.
Disembarkation in Durres: 35 minutes and you are in the clinic
Durres is about 35 minutes' drive from Tirana. If you travel with our package, the private transfer: no taxis to haggle at 8 in the morning, no coaches. If you have a car with you, we give you precise directions and discounted parking near the clinic and the hotel. The program of the stay (CT scan, visit, interventions) remains identical to that of patients arriving by plane: it only changes how you reach Albania.
For those who make sense (and for those who don't)
It makes sense if:
- leave from Bari and surrounding areas, Puglia, Basilicata or Molise — the port is convenient;
- you are afraid of flying: you can face the ship even with an anxiolytic and a cabin, but not the plane;
- you want to bring the car (for family needs, special luggage, or to combine a tour of Albania);
- you travel as a family and the cost of flights for 3–4 people weighs heavily.
It makes no sense if: leave from the north or central-north (reaching Bari costs more than the flight to Tirana) or if you suffer from seasickness: in that case the one-hour flight is better. The page starting from Bari Compare the two options from your area.
The details that make the difference
- Book the cabin for the outward journey: arriving rested counts if you have a visit the next day;
- Documents: you need a valid identity card for travel abroad or a passport; check the deadline before booking;
- On the way back: the last check-up at the clinic is scheduled in order to leave you room for boarding in the evening;
