The immediate loading it is the technique that allows you to fix a temporary prosthesis on the implants within 24-72 hours of surgery: you enter with compromised teeth (or no teeth) and leave with fixed teeth. How immediate loading works
Normally an implant is left to "heal" under the gum for 3-6 months before loading it with the prosthesis (deferred loading). In immediate loading the temporary prosthesis is screwed in immediately on newly inserted implants.
It is possible because the implants, well distributed and with sufficient initial stability, "splint" each other through the rigid prosthesis: the masticatory load (controlled in the first months, with a soft diet) does not disturb osteointegration, which in any case occurs under the temporary one. After 3-6 months the temporary is replaced with the definitive prosthesis.
The requirements: who can do it
Immediate loading requires precise conditions, verified during the intervention: high primary stability of the implants (measured with insertion torque and ISQ), bone of adequate quantity and quality, absence of uncontrolled active infections, and a prosthetic design that correctly distributes loads.
It is the standard technique in rehabilitation entire arch like the Toronto Bridge and theAll on 4, where 4-6 implants are splinted together. On a single tooth it is possible in selected cases (especially in the lower fronts or with excellent bone). If the conditions are not there, we choose deferred loading: a few months of waiting is better than a lost system.

What you can eat and what not in the first months
The immediate loading temporary is a real tooth for speaking and smiling, but it must be treated with consideration while the implants are integrated: soft diet for 6-8 weeks (no scabs, hard meat, dried fruit, bites on hard foods), then progressive normalization until the definitive prosthesis.
Hygiene: delicate cleaning with soft toothbrush, pipe cleaners and water flosser as per delivery instructions, plus scheduled checks. Compliance with these rules is the first factor in the success of immediate loading.
